What is a pre-apprenticeship?

A pre-apprenticeship is an entry-level training program. These courses can provide a pathway into industries, such as the electrical field. Upon completion, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to start a fulfilling career as an electrical apprentice. You will also have learnt vital safety skills to help you on the job.

Is it worth doing a pre-apprenticeship?

Absolutely! For those that want to kick start their careers. Even if you’re not 100% certain that you want to pursue a career in the electrical industry, a pre-apprenticeship will give you a real taste without committing to a full apprenticeship.

How do I apply for an electrical pre-apprenticeship?

If you’re ready to take the first step towards your future career as an electrician, there are a few options. 
You can undertake your pre-apprenticeship in school, known as PAiS. See your school's VET Coordinator to learn more about the application process.
For general pre-apprenticeship places, you will need to do the following

At CET, we have a rolling intake that allows students to enrol in electrical pre-apprenticeships essentially all year-round. That means more opportunities to start and get into your class sooner.

What are the prerequisites for studying an electrical pre-apprenticeship?

There are no prerequisites for studying a pre-apprenticeship, however, for pre-apprenticeship in school (PAiS), since the program runs over years 11 and 12, you will need to be in those year groups.
