CET were proud to welcome Senator the Hon. Simon Birmingham, Federal Minister for Education and Training, and the Hon. Michael Keenan MP, Federal Member for Stirling, Minister for Justice and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Counter Terrorism, to their Jandakot campus on 11 April 2016. The guests toured the facilities and learnt about CET's latest courses in the renewable energy sector and apprenticeship training for careers in the electrical and telecommunications industry.
Renewable energy is a hot topic right now with rising electricity costs and more competitively priced batteries and battery inverters coming onto the market. CET offer a number of courses that provide training for the renewable energy sector and Carl Copeland, CET General Manager, showed the guests the training equipment used in these courses. Minister Birmingham was impressed with CET’s response to consumer and industry demand for renewable energy training, including the launch of the Stand-alone Power Systems Design and Installation, Clean Energy Council Accreditation course earlier this year.
Minister Birmingham and Minister Keenan spent some time speaking with CET electrical apprentice students about their learning experiences at CET, the facilities on offer and support from staff. Mr Copeland explained CET’s focus on providing maximum flexibility and opportunity to students and employers via their unique rolling intakes and the widest range of elective units amongst any training provider in WA.
CET look forward to continuing a positive relationship with government , providing greater opportunities to advocate on behalf of the WA electrical industry.
