Course Overview

The course is designed to provide participants who have been advised by the Western Australian Electrical Licensing Board to undergo a competency assessment. The training, skills and knowledge acquired will enable
participants to:

Inspect and test an electrical installation and equipment in accordance with regulatory requirements
Design and install low voltage electrical wiring in domestic premises, inclusive of wiring enclosures, cable support systems and cable accessories
Work safely in the electrical industry
Meet the requirements of mandatory reporting and
Terminate cables and connecting accessories to comply with installation standards

Pre-requisites

Pre-requisite
current Western Australian Unrestricted Electrician's Licence (previously known as an A Grade Electrical Worker's Licence) or
permit in the Electrical Fitting or Electrical Mechanic (Installing) Trade or
have written approval from the Electrical Licensing Board

Course Requirements

All applicants must apply to the WA Electrical Licensing Regulator (Building and Energy), for permission to enrol in the course. The letter granting permission must be sited by the Registered Training Organisation prior to all enrolments. Applicants must also have a working knowledge of both written and spoken English

CET's safety policy requires all course participants to wear safety boots whilst on the premises. Please ensure that this requirement is met when attending the College.

Skills Recognition

The CET Skills Recognition process benefits applicants who have undergone prior learning and recognises
competencies obtained outside a formal educational or training environment, gained through life or work experience. Competencies currently held by applicants will be formally assessed against each applicable Unit of Competency and maybe recognised regardless of how, when and where they were achieved. Skills Recognition is an assessment process and a cost recovery charge will apply.
CET accepts and provides credit to learners for units of competency and/or modules (unless licensing or regulatory requirements prevent this) where these are evidenced by:

• AQF certification documentation issued by any other RTO or AQF authorised issuing organisation; or
• Authenticated VET transcript issued by the Registrar
