Are you looking to kick-start your career in the electrical and communications industry? The College of Electrical Training is home to pre-apprenticeship courses designed to provide industry-specific training. If you have left school or are a school based student in year 11, and looking to secure an apprenticeship in the Electrotechnology Industry, then please read on. Pre-apprenticeships in schools (PAiS) are Certificate II programs that have been nominated by Western Australian industry training councils as valid pathways from school to a traditional trade apprenticeship. Become equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to build a strong foundation for a fulfilling career in the electro-technology industry. Gain certification in electro-technology and data and voice communications, or discover the many other pathways in this diverse trade. How do I apply?
To undertake your pre-apprenticeship in school (PAiS), you need to see your VET Coordinator and apply through the school process. For general pre-apprenticeship places, you will need to complete the following steps:
Study Intake When: All year round Where: Joondalup or Jandakot campus At CET, we have a ‘rolling intake’ - essentially it means there are more opportunities for you to start across the year, which means more chance of you getting into your class sooner. We also have our online learning platform - CET Learning, which allows our students to participate and study remotely, including reinforcing your learning from class. Also, you’ll get your hands on our first-in-class, patented, skills based learning boards, the Blue Panels, which help teach our students on cutting-edge techniques, skills, and equipment - essential for their transition to the workforce.
What are the prerequisites? There are no prerequisites for studying a pre-apprenticeship, however for pre-apprenticeship in school (PAiS), since the program runs over years 11 and 12, you will. How long does it take? Pre-apprenticeship courses for general students usually run over three months, with work experience on top of that. If you are doing your pre-apprenticeship in school, it runs over year 11 and year 12.
